About Land of Assets

Built by practitioners who have run 3D infrastructure at Hollywood scale and Fortune 500 enterprise commerce for two decades.

Why This Exists

Most teams have 3D content scattered across systems that don't talk to each other. Engineering owns the CAD. Design has its own Blender projects. Marketing has a third copy of an old render. When engineering updates a dimension, nobody downstream finds out until something breaks.

File servers, format converters, and general-purpose asset managers each handle a piece of this. None manages the full lifecycle, from source file through every version to every place that asset gets used.

Land of Assets manages that full lifecycle in one place: one authoritative platform that handles hosting, versioning, conversion, and delivery for every 3D asset a team creates.

Built from Real-World Experience

Shaped by two decades of building at scale

The platform was designed by people who operated 3D infrastructure under the most demanding conditions: Hollywood VFX production and Fortune 500 enterprise commerce. We know what fails at scale, what teams actually need, and what architecture holds up under production load.

The experience behind the platform

  • Hollywood VFX — render infrastructure for Star Wars, Harry Potter, Avengers, and more; adopted by every major studio
  • Web 3D standards — core contributors to Three.js and the glTF standard at Khronos
  • Enterprise commerce — visual commerce infrastructure for Crate & Barrel, Jacuzzi, Milwaukee Tool, Steelcase, Ralph Lauren, and dozens more Fortune 500 companies
  • Amazon acquisition — Deadline, co-created by this team, acquired by Amazon; now runs as AWS Deadline Cloud

Design Principles

Accuracy over approximation. Your 3D content should represent your work exactly. That means preserving source data, managing versions with precision, and keeping every downstream tool tied to one authoritative source. Close enough breaks things.

Automation, not manual handoffs. Historically, the gap between teams was filled by people copying files, converting formats, and chasing version consistency. Land of Assets automates format conversion, optimization, delivery, and pipeline integration, freeing your teams for work that needs human judgment.

Scale that doesn't require re-architecture. Infrastructure should grow with your catalog, not force a rebuild when you add assets or users. Land of Assets handles day-one volume through enterprise load without operational overhead.

Open standards, not lock-in. We came from the open source 3D community. Public assets are hosted for free. We build on glTF, WebGL, and REST, not proprietary formats that trap your content.

For Teams That Create a Lot of 3D Content

Land of Assets is built for teams where 3D content is central to the work: studios and creators producing models and environments, product teams managing catalogs across engineering and marketing, and any organization whose 3D assets need to move between tools without losing accuracy along the way.

Teams that invest in 3D content need infrastructure built for long-term operation. Land of Assets is built to that standard.

Open Source and Community

Public assets on Land of Assets are hosted and delivered at no cost. We believe robust 3D infrastructure should be accessible to open source projects and the broader developer community. That commitment comes from the team's roots in open source 3D: Three.js, the glTF standard, and years of contributing to the ecosystem that made web 3D possible.
